Devs working on relaunching PoGo UWP app

Niantic doesn’t seem to be willing to bring Pokemon Go to Windows phones, but in the meantime, the community is hard at work to create their own ports that could run on devices powered by Windows 10 Mobile.

The first such port, called PoGo UWP, already debuted officially a few weeks ago but stopped working after a recent API update that Niantic itself made.

And now there’s hope that this third-party Pokemon Go client could return to Windows phones, as the developing team completed work on a new API that could make the game run on Windows 10 Mobile devices once again, despite Niantic’s updates.

“A new API has been finalized and is currently in the process of being implemented. We should see a new build soon, with an updated API and some UI changes. Worth the wait,” the developers have announced on the GitHub page of the project.

Niantic has no intention of launching Pokemon Go on Windows phones

Furthermore, an announcement made two days ago on GitHub also shares the same good news but provides no specifics as to when the release of the game could take place once again on Windows phones.

“It is over! Latest update! They finally did it! All the unknown errors are gone! They are now implementing the API and we don’t know when the port to C# is done! Stay tuned,” this update reads.

Pokemon Go continues to be an Android and iOS exclusive title, despite all efforts coming from Windows Phone users to convince the company to bring the game on their platform too. For the moment, however, Niantic shows absolutely no intention of doing that, and instead, the company prefers to improve the existing Android and iOS clients regularly with new bug fixes and feature improvements.

The PoGo UWP app is pretty much the only way to play Pokemon Go on Windows phones, so fingers crossed for the developing team to get the new version working as fast and possible and make the game available once again.
