Despite rumors of Pokemon GO for Apple Watch being canceled after the game was announced back in September, Niantic announced earlier this month that these allegations were false and that it would soon release the promised game to iOS fans.

Today, Niantic has announced that Pokemon GO is available on the Apple Watch, just in time for the holiday season. Those who own the iOS device will now be able to explore and experience the world around them directly from the wrist.

According to developers, “Apple Watch is particularly well suited to Pokémon GO as it seamlessly combines gameplay and imagination with getting exercise and exploring the real world.”

Before you start hunting for Pokemon, here are a few tips that will help you enjoy Pokemon GO on your Apple Watch. First of all, you can easily interact with the game from your smartwatch, using quick taps to discover nearby Pokemon, as well as to collect items from PokeStops.

Get all important Pokemon GO notifications on the Apple Watch

Keep in mind that, once you find a Pokemon, you can only catch it from your iPhone. Also, you will be able to log all your play sessions through the Apple Watch app as a Workout that will count toward your personal Activity rings, while also counting distance toward hatching Pokemon Eggs.

Obviously, you can receive notifications about nearby Pokemon on your Apple Watch, but you will also be notified when Eggs hatch and medals are awarded.

This holiday season, experience Pokemon GO and the world around you in a whole new way on Apple Watch. It’s the perfect companion for bundled-up winter walks in the Northern Hemisphere and for fun summer activities in the Southern Hemisphere,” says Niantic in a blog post.

If you haven't yet downloaded Pokemon GO on your iPhone, now would be a good time to try it out if you have an Apple Watch to pair it with.
