Niantic has no plans to bring Pokemon Go on Windows phones, despite the so many requests from users in the community, but fortunately, a skilled developer has managed to create a port of the game that runs smoothly on Windows 10 Mobile devices.

Called PoGo, the Pokemon Go client for Windows 10 Mobile comes as a universal app and is built by the developer of Windows Phone app One Auth - we reported recently that he created a concept of Pokemon Go for Windows phones, but he has now decided to make it public and allow everyone to try it out.

It’s worth noting from the very beginning that the Windows 10 Mobile version is a little different from the one on iOS and Android, but it’s pretty much the next best thing, and it’s working on Windows phones too. Everyone can give it a try by following the instructions below.

How to install Pokemon Go on a Windows phone

First and foremost, note that this only works on Windows 10 Mobile devices, so you won’t be able to install it on Windows Phone. A Pokemon Trainer Club account is needed, so you have to register one on an Android or iOS device before actually installing the game on Windows 10 Mobile (you can also use BlueStacks on a Windows 10 PC and the Android version of Pokemon Go).

Log into the Android or IOS version of Pokemon Go to configure all your trainer settings and then log out. On your Windows 10 Mobile device, enable sideloading (Settings > Update and security > Developer mode) and then download this appx file and this certificate. Copy these two files on your phone, and then with the built-in file manager, navigate to their location, launch the certificate and then the APPX file (in this exact order).

A Pokemon Go icon should then show up in the app list, and you should be able to launch the game normally. Log in with your account created on Android or iOS (or in BlueStacks) and catch ‘em all.
