14 DAY TRIAL // The existence of the PlayStation 4K has been confirmed by a number of sources already, even if Sony is unwilling to talk about any new version of the PlayStation 4 that could be launched this year, and now another source claims that it can offer more information about the capabilities of the coming device and how the company plans to market it.
On the NeoGAF forums, the user explains that the price of the new platform is apparently set at 399 dollars or Euro, but the team working on it is also exploring a more powerful central processing unit that would deliver a lot more power while getting the cost to 449 dollars or Euro.
The source also says that the new graphics processing unit on the PlayStation 4K is two times as powerful as the one on the PS4 and is also much smaller, which probably means that more memory can be fitted in.
The new version of the home console will also come complete with a 4K Blu-ray player and will upscale both video game and apps that cannot natively reach that resolution.
It seems that Sony will also create a strong connection between the new hardware and the PlayStation VR, which is set to come in October, by introducing a new special virtual reality set of features for the media player application.
PlayStation 4K might launch with God of War 4
A number of developers already have access to development kits featuring all the new technology, which is why the previously leaks took place, and they are preparing experiences that should be available at launch.
So far neither one of the rumors has offered a potential date when the PlayStation 4K might be launched.
The list of video games currently prepared for the new hardware includes Deep Down and, apparently, God of War 4.
For already existing titles Sony says that it might be hard to get improved performance on the PlayStation 4K although different developers will be able to try and introduce new features and improved graphics.
The PlayStation VR set of coming video games includes EVE Valkyrie, which is also offered on the Oculus Rift right now, as well as a new title called Robison and a racing title linked to Gran Turismo.
Presumably, Sony will only make an official announcement at some point in the summer, and a full launch of the PS 4K will probably be set for the autumn of this year.
