The development team at Sony working on the future of the PlayStation 4 is ready to offer official information on the coming firmware 3.0 for the home console, which will deliver a range of long-requested features to the device.

The company is not yet ready to talk about the launch date of the update, which is codenamed Kenshin, but it does say that it plans to deliver it as soon as it makes sure that all the included features work as they should.

Firmware 3.0 for the PlayStation 4 will introduce new YouTube live capabilities to the device, which means that gameplay can be streamed directly to the service, including its mobile version.

The ability to share video clips is also offered for Twitter, with a maximum length of 10 seconds, and options to cut longer gameplay sequences down to this size are also available.

Users also get an increase in the online storage they can use, from 1 GB to 10 GB for those who have the PS Plus service, with a new Auto-Upload option added to Application Saved Data Management.

The PlayStation 4 is also getting a new Events hub, which should make it easier for players to track upcoming special offers and activities linked to their favorite titles.

In the Friends app, gamers will also get a Favorite Group feature, meaning that it will be easier than before to launch a gaming session with the players one likes best.

Stickers are also being added to the PlayStation 4

The Live from PlayStation app is also getting an update, designed to make it easier to see which are the most popular broadcasts at any given time.

Now Playing is also getting some tweaks in firmware 3.0 for PlayStation 4, with users now getting more options to jump into a session or simply interact with friends who are online and playing.

A Request to Watch Gameplay feature is also being introduced, and there are options to create communities based on shared interests.

The development team states, "If you were selected for our beta program, you’ll get to see these features first-hand very soon. Keep in mind, some of this content might not make it into the final version - that’s why we’re having a beta, after all. We’ve added new ways to connect with friends and players around the world, expanding the social capabilities of the system even further."
