14 DAY TRIAL // A new version of Play Store has just started rolling out, and while some users will let it go unnoticed, those who are into beta testing will surely enjoy it. Play Store v6.7 allows users to see when they’re in a beta testing process, leave/join it and even provide direct developer feedback from the Play Store client.
The main feature of the new version is the ability to see beta status at the top of app listings when users are enrolled or join/leave a beta test from the app listing, at the bottom. It comes with the option to provide the developer of a beta app with feedback rather than leave it in a public review. It also labels unreleased apps at the top of the listing page so that users know which applications are currently in beta testing.
However, the ability to join or leave beta testing only works if the user joined the necessary G+ community or the developer doesn’t require such a prerequisite. In the new version, the Play store displays a message at the top, informing users if they’re running a beta version. It also notes if an app is unreleased, which means that it’s only been in a private beta with no public version.
Send feedback straight to the developer
The new Play Store allows users to leave feedback for developers of apps so they don’t have to post a public review that anyone can see. However, the layout is exactly as that of public reviews, which might seem a bit confusing to some users.
Still, developers need the feedback in order to enhance app efficiency and come up with features that users actually want. In fact, developers can now easily increase the number of those who are testing their applications, since v6.7 makes it easier for users to join beta testing and communicate with developers.
The latest version of Play Store started rolling out yesterday, but it may take some time before it’s available to all users.
