The issue was reported by hundreds of users

Pixel and Pixel XL users have taken to Google Product Forums to report an issue with their smartphones. Apparently, the Bluetooth on Google’s latest smartphones turns off for seemingly no reason at all. It can be turned back on, but it appears to turn off again by itself, according to a report.

The issue has affected hundreds of Pixel and Pixel XL users, some of whom reported that they noticed the issue every morning. One user says that Bluetooth turns off by itself after every re-boot, forcing the user to head over to settings and turn it on again so it can connect in the car.

Users say that the issue appeared recently, as in the past Bluetooth remained enabled until the user manually disabled it. In addition, the issue doesn’t appear to be related to car connectivity, but rather to the latest February security update which recently rolled out to Pixel phones.

Issues with phone calls over Bluetooth

Some users even reported that they’ve experienced the issue daily. A Google employee did mention that they’re aware of the bug and that they’re working on a fix. There don’t appear to be any workarounds at this point.

A separate issue was reported when it came to phone calls made over Bluetooth. This issue is caused by Google’s latest update to the dialer application this month. The update doesn’t appear to allow calls to be made over Bluetooth and it restricts users to the speaker or the phone’s earpiece. The issue doesn’t seem to be exclusive to the Pixel, as Google’s dialer app is also available for Nexus smartphones. Rolling back to the previous version doesn’t fix this.

Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones have experienced some inconvenient bugs over the past few months, including the speaker issue which output distorted audio when playing certain sounds at the highest volume levels. The issue was since fixed and we hope Google finds a fix for the latest Bluetooth bug soon, too.
