Just a few moments ago, the developers of the powerful and open-source Pitivi video editor software uploaded a new Beta version of the upcoming Pitivi 1.0 build, which is getting closer to reality.

Pitivi 0.95 Beta is now available for download and testing (see download link at the end of the article) for early adopters who can't wait for the final and stable version. It is important to note that it introduces numerous new things, among which we can mention the complete rewrite of the timeline in pure GTK+, along with the ability to import video directly into the timeline.

Furthermore, the new gtk(gl)sink function replaces the deprecated glimagesink video rendering widget, and it is now possible to copy and paste video clips across the timeline. Moreover, various video mixing elements have been completely rewritten, support for GNonLin has been finally dropped, and the "scenarios" system and GstValidate function have been fully integrated.

"Third beta and 5th release of the new version of Pitivi based on GES. All the improvements from 0.91, 0.92, 0.93 and 0.94, plus many more," said the developers on the internal changelog of PiTiVi 0.95 Beta, attached at the end of the article for reference.

Pitivi re-implements the clip transformation box

Among other interesting new features added in the Pitivi 0.95 Beta release, we can mention the re-implementation of the clip transformation box, and support for devices with smaller screen resolutions. As expected, numerous of those annoying bugs reported by users since the previous Beta build of the software have been fixed.

Download Pitivi 0.95 Beta for GNU/Linux operating systems right now from Softpedia. Please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, which means that some features are incomplete. Do not install and use a Beta version of a piece of software on a production machine.
