Last month, Pinterest made a new Lens feature available to a limited number of users and it seems that the company has finally decided to roll it out to all users in the United States. The new Lens feature will be available on Android and iOS.

Pinterest has announced that after testing and making the necessary adjustments in the past month, the new Lens feature will be made available to everyone in the US, on Android and iOS platforms. In order to get access to the feature, users simply need to have the latest version of Pinterest on their phones.

To access Lens, they just need to tap on the search bar and on the red camera icon. Then, users can point the camera at an object and get suggestions inside the app. They can search for shoes, recipes, art, and all sorts of items.

Pictures in the camera roll can be used for searches

Pinterest didn’t limit Lens to simply objects in the user’s immediate proximity. Pictures in the camera roll can also be used for performing a search and Pinterest added several other options to Lens. Users can swipe up to find new searches, like travel ideas and even turntables.

“Lens will stay in beta as it gets even better at recognizing all the things,” the company says. To achieve this, Pinterest asks its users to contribute to development and provide feedback about their search results, so that the feature would “earn its way out of the beta zone” soon. To provide feedback, users simply need to tap the new + button.

Users can also tag #PinterestLens when posting screenshots of search results on their social networks and thus promote the new feature. Pinterest continues to bring improvements to its app, after last year the company introduced a neat feature for users to shop for items by simply taking their picture.
