Pillars of Eternity users who don't mind testing the upcoming update 2.0 can now download the beta version of the major patch via the Steam service, as it's already available, ahead of the full-fledged release in the near future. A partial changelog confirms a wide array of tweaks for Obsidian Entertainment's old-school role-playing game.

Pillars of Eternity launched earlier this year, and after a stellar crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, it quickly went on to earn a cult-like following after release. Developer Obsidian Entertainment also kept on releasing major updates, patches, and new content, while working on the major White March expansion.

The test version of update 2.0 is up on Steam

Now, until the add-on is ready for launch, Obsidian has released the beta version of Pillars of Eternity update 2.0 via the Steam service.

The studio recommends on its forums that users download the test patch and share with their team if any bugs or issues arise after installing it.

Those who aren't in the game's beta branch can join by right clicking Pillars of Eternity in their Steam library, selecting Properties, and then navigating to the Betas tab. There, users should insert the "BETAPASSWORD" code and then select the beta branch for the game, as you can see in the image above. Steam should then start to download the update 2.0 beta.

Partial changelog confirms a variety of improvements

According to the incomplete changelog, which is available below, the new patch brings all sorts of improvements and bug fixes, not to mention many gameplay tweaks that should result in fewer problems.

The patch also makes some big modifications to the user interface, adding range indicators for certain skills while eliminating different issues reported by players.

The full version of update 2.0 for Pillars of Eternity is set to arrive once testing concludes, and Obsidian is happy with its state.
