Philips narrowed its smartphone business to several Asian countries, but without too much success. However, the company is still launching devices from time to time and some of them are even popular in some of these countries where Philips is still present.

The newest Android handset launched by Philips is called S358 and it's in the low- to mid-range tier when it comes to specs. The smartphone is now available for purchase in Vietnam for only $130, a new report confirms.

What's interesting about Philips S358 is that it comes with a new technology called Miravision. The phone sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

Thanks to the Miravision Screen technology, the display features wide viewing angles, low power usage and realistic colors, according to the aforementioned report.

Also, Philips claims that the phone's screen can provide high-resolution and DTV-grade display picture quality on mobile devices.

The rest of the S358's specs aren't that impressive, though the low price makes it an interesting choice for those looking for an affordable Android smartphone.

An interesting choice in the mid-range tier

The good news is Philips S358 ships with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor, 1GB of RAM and only 8GB of internal memory.

However, users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot. Also, on the back side, the smartphone packs a 8-megapixel photo snapper with fixed focus, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a similar 8-megapixel selfie camera with wide angle lens.

When it comes to connectivity, Philips S358 offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, along with Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, Wi-Fi and GPS with AGPS support.

It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone is powered by a 2,300 mAh battery that features X-Power battery saver technology for longer continuous usage time.
