14 DAY TRIAL // At the beginning of the month, news broke that former One Direction member Zayn Malik had ended his engagement with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards about a month prior. The same report claimed that Perrie was completely devastated but also slightly furious that he would do it via a text message.
When the breakup happened, Perrie and her Little Mix mates were getting ready to hit the road in support of the band’s latest album. The timing was horrible, in other words, because she was under so much pressure and didn’t know if she could handle even more, brought on by the increased media attention.
In an interview taped shortly after the news broke, Perrie said she was “fine” and signaled that she didn’t want to continue talking about Zayn, which the reporter understood and obliged. She was clearly lying.
The other day, Little Mix was performing their breakup song “The End” when Perrie suddenly broke down in tears in the middle of her solo. You can see the moment in the video below.
The other girls rushed to her and used their bodies to shield her from curious eyes, but because her microphone was turned on, you could still hear her bawling. Then, the girls tried to explain the meltdown by saying they’d had a long day with very little sleep, so that’s why Perrie was acting this way.
