A community flavor built around the LXDE desktop environment

We introduced you last week to the PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 MATE Edition, and the other day to the PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 Xfce Community Edition, and now the time has come for you to find out about the LXDE flavor of PCLinuxOS.

PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 LXDE Community Edition was launched earlier this month, created by a PCLinuxOS community user and tester who goes by the name of Ika, the same one who brought us the PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 Xfce Community Edition operating system.

Just like the Xfce flavor, PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 LXDE Community Edition is a super fast and well-designed GNU/Linux distribution that you can deploy on older computers, but this time, the default desktop environment is built around LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment).

You'll find pretty much the same great collection of open-source applications and core components that have been integrated into the Xfce edition of PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06, the June update to the RPM-based operating system, including the long-term supported Linux 4.4.11 kernel.

The release notes for PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 LXDE Community Edition also mention the fact that a permission issue with the root "/" filesystem has been fixed. Other than that, you'll have to download the distribution (see below for direct download links), install it on your personal computer and see what's the fuss all about.

Distributed as Full and Mini Live versions

As expected, the PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 LXDE Community Edition distro is being shipped to users with the usual Full and Mini Live ISO images. Of course, the Mini ISO is a slimmed-down version of the Full one, designed for those who don't have the bandwidth to download the Full ISO.

With that being said, we invite you to download PCLinuxOS 64 2016.06 LXDE Community Edition right now via our website if you want to try something different than the rest of the crowd. But still please come back as we will unveil more PCLinuxOS editions in the coming days. Make sure that you join the discussion about this edition on the official forum thread.
