In 1989, Paula Abdul recorded “Opposites Attract,” which she would later release as single from her debut album “Forever Your Girl.” The video for it was released in 1990 and would end up winning Paula a Grammy at the 1991 edition of the gala for Best Short Form Music Video.

For the kids growing up in the early ‘90s, it’s iconic. It featured Paula and a cartoon cat named M.C. Skat Cat, voiced by The Wild Pair, acting out some of the lyrics of the song, which talked about an unlikely love story between 2 protagonists who had almost nothing in common but for the fact that they enjoyed each other’s company.

You can find it below, the second video embedded at the end of this blog post.

The first one is from James Corden’s show, when he and Paula recreated the video to the best of their abilities in front of the studio audience. Paula played herself, obviously, while Corden took on M.C. Skat Cat in a hilarious furry suit, complete with cat ears and fuzzy paws.

They danced and lip-synched to the song, and even did a little number in a bed, with Corden stealing the covers from his girl.

If you had any doubts regarding Paula’s dancing skills and how they’ve been holding up all these years, put them away: she’s still got the same amazing moves. On a side note, she doesn’t seem to age at all, so that makes sense.
