Aside from mid-range Galaxy phone series, South Korean technology company, Samsung is also focusing its attention on tablets in its Galaxy Tab series, as the tech giant is preparing to launch a recycled version of the Galaxy Tab 4, first unveiled in 2014. The Galaxy Tab 4 Advanced won’t be much different from its predecessor, but full specs have yet to be revealed.

A few days ago, Twitter leakster, Roland Quandt, revealed some details on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. It is said to come with a 10.1-inch display of 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, powered by 6,800 mAh battery. It will also come with 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal memory and microSD support of up to 128GB.

Users shouldn’t get too excited about the camera, since it will only have a 5MP rear camera and only 1.3MP in the front. As expected, it will come with Android Marshmallow 6.0 right out of the box and it will have a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, quite low even compared to the upcoming Galaxy Tab S3.

Not quite an improvement from the Galaxy Tab 4

Although it’s dubbed as Advanced, the upcoming Tab 4 variant is far from it, at least when it comes to display resolution and size. Still, there are some minor improvements.

Screen size for the upcoming Tab 4 Advanced is the same as that of its predecessor, and it’s not quite clear why Samsung hasn’t decided to enlarge the display, considering that the Tab S2 came with a 10.5-inch screen.

The initial Galaxy Tab 4 came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, clocked at just 1.2 GHz, while the Advanced version will sport a more powerful processor, at 1.6GHz. There’s an improvement in the rear camera department, but it’s still lower than that of Galaxy Tab S2 with 8MP.

At the time of its launch, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 was a safe bet for users looking for mid-range tablets, but Samsung needs to make some serious improvements to the upcoming model, if it would like to categorize it in this market segment and not the low-end.
