The developers of the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux distribution have reported earlier today, November 20, 2016, on the availability of new security updates, along with a new kernel version and the latest software releases.

Long story short, users of the current stable Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" release, as well as early adopters of the upcoming Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" branch, are urged to update their installations as soon as possible to receive a new kernel version, namely Linux kernel 4.4.32 LTS, which was announced on November 15, 2016.

Additionally, it looks like the software repositories of the Parsix GNU/Linux operating system have been, once again, synced with upstream, which means that you'll also receive all the latest security updates that have been pushed recently to the Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" repos.

"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the security page of the Parsix GNU/Linux operating system.

Mozilla Firefox 50.0 lands for Parsix GNU/Linux users

Since our last report two weeks ago, it appears that users have received updated versions of the Drupal 7.x, Moin, Akonadi, GStreamer Plugins Bad 0.10, Terminology, MariaDB 10.0, Pillow, OpenJDK 7, MySQL 5.5, Mat, and libxslt packages. These are security releases ported from the Debian Stable release, so you should install them on your Parsix GNU/Linux OS as soon as possible.

In some more good news, the recently released Mozilla Firefox 50.0 web browser is now available for both Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev." Again, make sure that your Parsix GNU/Linux installation is always up to date by installing all the updates and new software versions released in the stable repos. More details about how to install these security updates can be found at http://www.parsix.org/wiki/Security.
