14 DAY TRIAL // Today, June 28, 2016, the developers behind the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux computer operating system have announced that new security patches and kernel versions are available for both Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 and 8.10.
While Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" is still in heavy development with no new test build made available for public beta testers since May, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 "Atticus" is the current stable release of the distribution, and it has received the latest Linux 4.1.27 LTS kernel.
Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" has also gotten an updated kernel, Linux 4.4.14 LTS, and it looks like both distributions now include the latest security updates from the upstream Debian GNU/Linux 8.5 "Jessie" repositories. Among them are the libpdfbox-java 1.8.7+dfsg-1+deb8u1, libxslt 1.1.28-2+deb8u1, libav 6:11.7-1~deb8u1, and drupal7 7.32-1+deb8u7.
Users are urged to update as soon as possible
The Parsix GNU/Linux developers are advising users of the Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 "Atticus" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" operating systems to update their installations as soon as possible. In related news, the Parsix GNU/Linux development team is happy to announce that their build servers have been fully migrated to two RAID Samsung 850 Pro SSD drives using the outstanding ZFS file system, as well as GNU/Linux technologies like KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) and NFSv4 (Network File System).
Of course, this comes as great news for the development of the Debian-based operating system because we might see new test releases of Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" very soon, or even a final build, but that only if things go well with the new hardware and the devs don't take a summer break from all this.
