14 DAY TRIAL // On the last day of October 2016, the developers of the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux distribution informed their users about the general availability of a bunch of new security updates, as well as an updated kernel.
Both Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" are based on the Debian Stable repositories, which means that they are receiving the same security updates that are pushed upstream for the Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" operating system, but they are being ported to the Parsix GNU/Linux repos.
Since our last report on the security updates pushed to the stable Parsix GNU/Linux repositories, the developers managed to add new versions of the nginx web server, PHP5 server-side scripting language, Asterisk communications framework, as well as to mark the end of life for the VirtualBox 4.3 virtualization software, which is no longer supported upstream.
"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the Security Updates page on the Parsix GNU/Linux website.
Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and 8.10 "Erik" users need to update their systems now
As mentioned before, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and 8.10 "Erik" are the versions currently supported by the Parsix GNU/Linux project, so no matter which release you use right now on your personal computer, the security updates mentioned above are available for you to install, so make sure that you update as soon as possible.
Apart from those security updates, both Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" received an updated kernel based on Linux kernel 4.4.28 LTS, so you should install that too.
