It's been two weeks since our last report on the latest security updates pushed to the stable repositories of the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux operating system, and a new set of patches for various software components arrived the other day.

On December 26, 2016, the Parsix GNU/Linux development team had the pleasure of announcing on the official Twitter account of the distribution the availability of the newest security fixes ported from the repositories of Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie," a.k.a. Debian Stable.

"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the security page of Parsix GNU/Linux.

Chromium, PHP, APT, and Apache Tomcat received new versions

Among the applications and libraries that received new security updates, we can mention the Chromium web browser, Squid proxy server, TOR anonymity network tool, Samba file sharing software, Apache Tomcat 7 & 8 servlet container and web server, FlightGear flight simulator, and APT command-line package manager.

There are also updates for the PHP5, libupnp, libxml2, and python-bottle libraries, as well as the latest build of the Game Music Emulator software, which patches an important security vulnerability that was mediatized recently. All these are now available for users of Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" and 8.15 "Nev."

Users are recommended to update their installation as soon as possible to keep their systems secure and safe at all times. In the meantime, development of the next major version, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15, continues and a second Test build is available for public testing if you want to report bugs or become an early adopter.
