Users of the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" distributions are in for a treat this weekend, as a new kernel update and the latest Debian Stable security updates landed in the software repositories.

Those of you who are using Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" probably know that new security updates were pushed last week in the repos, including for the cURL library and command-line tool for transferring data, Memcached distributed memory object caching system, BIND9 DNS implementation, and GNU Tar utility for creating tar archives. These are now available for Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 and 8.10 users as well.

"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the Security Updates page on the Parsix GNU/Linux website, where you'll find detailed instructions on how to update your Parsix GNU/Linux installation.

Linux kernel 4.4.30 LTS and Intel Skylake improvements

Besides the latest cURL, GNU Tar, BIND9, and Memcached security updates, users of the Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" distributions also received the recently released, long-term supported Linux 4.4.30 kernel, which fixes a bug in Linux kernel 4.4.29 LTS and older kernels. Please note that after applying the new kernel update, you'll need to reboot your computer for a proper installation.

An updated xserver-xorg-video-intel video driver package was pushed to the software repositories of Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" for those experiencing issues with Intel's Skylake family of products. Please update your Parsix GNU/Linux installation as soon as possible to receive all the above and keep your OS reliable and secure at all times. Newcomers can download the latest Parsix GNU/Linux release from our website.
