Today, August 29, 2016, the maintainers of the Parsix GNU/Linux distribution have announced the availability of multiple security updates, along with a new kernel version for the Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" release.

Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" is the latest stable and most advanced release of the Debian-based operating system, launched on July 31, 2016, and it always gets the newest security patches from the upstream Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" software repositories.

Therefore, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" has been fully synchronized with Debian Stable, which means that users have received security updates for open-source software like GnuPG, Flex, ImageMagick, Rails, Quagga, MuPDF, and libgcrypt20, since the previous update from August 17, 2016.

"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the project's security page.

Also today, the Parsix GNU/Linux development team has managed to update the kernel packages of the operating system to Linux kernel 4.4.19 LTS, the latest version in the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel series, which is also used in more popular distributions like Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) and now Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS (Trusty Tahr).

If you're using the Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" operating system, you are urged to update your computer(s) as soon as possible to receive the new security updates mentioned above and keep your OS safe from any threats. Details on how to update your Parsix GNU/Linux installations, as well as what has been fixed in these patches, are always available at http://www.parsix.org/wiki/Security.
