The Parrot Project began work on a new version of their Linux-based ethical hacking and penetration testing operating system, Parrot Security OS 3.9, and they recently put out a call for testing.

Packed with all the latest software updates and security patches from the upstream Debian GNU/Linux 9 "Stretch" repositories, Parrot Security OS 3.9 entered Beta stage of development, and the team put a lot of effort to prepare a bunch of ISO images that you can download and install on your personal computer if you want to help them hunt bugs or just report if everything runs smoothly.

"We did our best to prepare these preview images including all the updates and the new features introduced since the last release, but now we need your help to understand how to make it even better, and of course we need your help to understand if there is something that doesn’t work as expected or something that absolutely needs to be included in the final release," said the devs.

Here's how to test the Parrot Security OS 3.9 Beta release

If you want to test the Parrot Security OS 3.9 Beta release, all you have to do is to prepare a USB flash stick of at least 4GB in size, download any of the Parrot Security OS editions you're interested in, such as Full, Lite, Air, or CD, for either 64-bit or 32-bit architectures, write the ISO image on the flash drive and boot it from a USB port on your personal computer.

You don't have to install anything, but the ParrotSec team would like you to test the system as intensively as you can and then write a full report about your experience with the Parrot Security OS 3.9 Beta release, and include any info on the bugs or issues you've found, as well as your suggestions. The final release is set to launch on October 28, so you should send the reports until October 24, 2017.
