Panasonic has quite a lot of smartphones available for purchase in India, one of the few countries where the company still launches mobile phones.

The latest addition to Panasonic's portfolio of Android smartphones is called Eluga Icon and belongs to the phablet category.

Potential customers should know that Panasonic Eluga Icon is available in India exclusively through Amazon. On the bright side, the smartphone costs only Rs 10,999 ($170 / €150), which is quite decent considering its specs.

It's also worth mentioning that the Eluga Icon is available in both silver and gold color version, which makes it a bit strange for those who prefer the more classic white or black colors.

Sadly, it comes with Android KitKat OS

Even though the smartphone packs quite decent hardware, Panasonic has confirmed that it ships with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box, along with the ICON UI on top.

Apart from that, we know that Eluga Icon comes with a large 5.5-inch IPS OGS (One Glass Solution) capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

The smartphone is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor, a Mali-T760 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.

Also, Panasonic Eluga Icon packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

There's also a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

As expected, the phablet offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support. Last but not least, Eluga Icon is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery and includes various connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.

“Increased internet penetration and growing popularity of online shopping, combined with the upsurge in smartphones has fuelled the growth of online retailing in India. In line with this, Panasonic India has exclusively tied up with Amazon in order to cater to the changing needs of the Indian consumers,” said Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India.
