Lots of new features and improvements, few known issues

Great news for OnePlus fans, as the Chinese company has just kicked off the rollout of Android 7.1.1 Nougat to both its 3 and 3T flagship smartphones. The update is available in the form of open beta, but that's only a few steps away from the final version.

We reported yesterday that OnePlus 3 and 3T had started to receive Android 7.1 Nougat, but the update was only available for those devices that run HydrogenOS. We thought OnePlus wouldn't take long to make the update available to those running OxygenOS, and it looks like we were right.

The update is dubbed OxygenOS Open Beta 3 and is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, so expect quite a few new features to be included. As we previously reported, the update contains the latest March security patch among other things.

OnePlus also added a couple of new features and improvements of its own, such as the new Shot on OnePlus wallpaper edition. As expected, many Gallery improvements have been implemented like the new photo editor with watermark and photo straightening options.

Few known issues and one workaround

Also, the newly added media will now be highlighted in the Photos section and the image location will be displayed on grid view. Also, media can now be filtered by month and year, while folder and individual media can be hidden.

Lots of general bug fixes are included in the update too, but there are also a couple of known issues, which, luckily, can be fixed. For example, the Android Pay will not work on London TFL/Tube, but this can be fixed by updating the application via Google Play Store.

Last but not least, there seem to be some compatibility issues with certain third-party applications, but OnePlus didn't mention any names.

Keep in mind that if you've previously flashed an Open Beta build on your OnePlus 3 or 3T, then you should receive the current build via OTA (over the air). Otherwise, you'll have to flash the new update using ADB sideload.
