ownCloud, a software company known for developing and deploying the most popular self-hosting cloud server solution on the market, announced today, August 25, the immediate availability for download of ownCloud Desktop Client 2.0.

According to the announcement, ownCloud Desktop Client 2.0 is a major release that brings awesome new features, such as a revamped GUI (Graphical User Interface) that offers support for multiple accounts, the ability to set a threshold size, which results in a confirmation before syncing a large amount of files.

The multi-account feature lets users add multiple ownCloud servers to the ownCloud Desktop Client, which is currently supported on all mainstream operating systems, including Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, and all GNU/Linux distributions. Each account will have a separate folder attached to it.

The second biggest feature of ownCloud Desktop Client 2.0 will allow users to restrict the synchronization of large folders from the ownCloud server to the desktop, which is something very useful if you don't have enough space on your PC or you have limited bandwidth. Best of all, the sync threshold sizes feature works with all folders.

"Version 2.0.0 of the ownCloud Desktop Sync Client has been released today. It introduces multi-account support, large folder sync confirmation and more features. Your client will automatically update and packages for your Linux distribution are be available as well," reads the announcement.

Native integration with OS X Yosemite

Among many other features implemented in ownCloud Desktop Client 2.0, we can mention native Finder integration for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, support for longer path names on Microsoft Windows, support for not syncing hidden files, as well as stability and performance improvements.

Lastly, there's also an automatic limit setting for download bandwidth throttling, and progress reporting during synchronization of files. Download ownCloud Desktop Client 2.0 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.
