ownCloud had the pleasure of informing us about the immediate availability for download of the fourth maintenance release of the ownCloud 8.0 DIY (Do It Yourself) open-source self-hosting cloud storage solution.

According to the attached release notes, ownCloud 8.0.4 is here to bring improved support for cURL versions that are quite old, as well as for QNAP (Quality Network Appliance Provider) users, to extend the X-Accel-Redirect functionality in the nginx web server, and to fix various issues with the upgrade process.

The calculation of the quota has been improved, the built-in sharing functionality received several under-the-hood improvements and multiple bugfixes, the Provisioning API (Application Programming Interface) has been repaired, and there’s not better compatibility with the Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 9 web browsers used in the Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Moreover, the occ command of ownCloud is now capable of optionally update all 3rd-party applications without disabling them, the WebDAV error message has been migrated from 403 to 500 when overwriting of read-only files is being denied, and some issues with the enforcing of the expiration date have been resolved.

An workaround has been added for file transfers on 32-bit OSes

Apparently, many users reported issues when transferring files on 32-bit operating systems, so a fix has been added in ownCloud 8.0.4, which also repairs problems with the inability of deleting files from the server when the quota reached zero (0), and fixes an issue that made the folders deleted from the ownCloud Client to appear in the trash.

Last but not least, various improvements landed in the database handling functionality, which might offer better performance on big systems, and it is now possible for shared LDAP users to edit shared documents. Some miscellaneous issues have been fixed as well. Download ownCloud 8.0.4 right now from Softpedia.
