ownCloud Inc, the popular open source enterprise file sync and share project, has launched the latest ownCloud 7.

ownCloud developers have just released a major update for their application and, as usual, it's packed with a lot of interesting features and other important changes.

“The ownCloud community is proud to announce the release of ownCloud 7. Eight months of planning, coding, discussing and testing have brought massive improvements in sharing and collaboration while putting you even more firmly in control of your data. Watch this great video to get an overview of the new and improved features in ownCloud 7!”

“ownCloud 7 is about sharing: Server-to-server sharing makes collaboration between you and somebody on a different ownCloud installation as easy as on a public cloud, while still giving you the privacy and control of a private, hosted cloud,” note the developers.

According to the changelog, an improved user interface and faster responses have been implemented, mobile web browser support has been added, File Activity Notifications can now be finely controlled, updates can now be sent to users by email, the group handling has been improved, the access to External Storage can now be controlled a lot better, and Password Strength Indicator has been added.

These are just a fraction of the new features found in the new release. A complete list of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. You can download ownCloud 7 right now from Softpedia.
