14 DAY TRIAL // Blizzcon 2016 debuted yesterday with an array of announcements that covered all Blizzard's games. Overwatch, now an important esports title, will be getting a brand new character later this month, Sombra.
Those who play on Overwatch's PTR will be able to try her out beginning next week, but we have yet to learn about Sombra's release for the general public.
Sombra is an offensive infiltrator that uses stealth and hacking abilities to take down the enemy. She can easily wear down enemy shields and disrupt their special attacks, so that they can be vulnerable to her teammates' attacks.
One of world's most famous hackers, Sombra is affiliated with the Mexican gang Los Muertos. She uses information to manipulate those in power.
Here are some of the powers and abilities that Sombra can employ in battles:
- Machine Pistol: Sombra’s fully-automatic machine pistol fires in a short-range spread. - Hack: Sombra hacks enemies to temporarily stop them from using their abilities, or hacks first aid kits to make them useless to her opponents. - Thermoptic: Sombra becomes invisible for a short period of time, during which her speed is boosted considerably. Attacking, using offensive abilities, or taking damage disables her camouflage. - Translocator: Sombra tosses out a translocator beacon. She can instantly return to the beacon’s location while it is active (including when it’s in mid-flight). - EMP: Sombra discharges electromagnetic energy in a wide radius, destroying enemy barriers and shields and hacking all opponents caught in the blast.
Blizzard will most likely take the opportunity to fine-tune some of Sombra's abilities while the character is available on the PTR (public test realm). If everything goes well, she could be released shortly afterwards.
