Apple just released OS X 10.11 El Capitan in the App Store and it can be installed on any compatible Mac running OS X 10.6.8 or later.

El Capitan is an OS X release that fixes most of the bugs in OS X Yosemite and also makes Apple's operating system faster than the previous version by injecting a boost of speed with the just added support for the Metal API.

Furthermore, OS X El Capitan also adds a host of improvements to Mail, the default e-mail client in Apple's OS, making it simpler to manage your mail using touch gestures as well as allowing for easy composing while in full-screen.

OS X 10.11 also adds a long-awaited split view for apps that run in full-screen and redesigns the Mission Control and the Spaces apps for simpler window and space management.

El Capitan is an OS X release that comes with a lot of under-the-hood improvements and refinements

Spotlight is now smarter and makes it quicker to find relevant information without having to open a web browser, and it also understands natural language allowing you to search your Mac using your own words.

The Notes and the Maps have also been improved, the former now being able to help you import content from other OS X apps and to use rich content with your notes, and the former makes it possible to use transit information in select cities around the world and to send your planned routes to your iOS devices.

We have a detailed El Capitan review describing all the newly added features in OS X 10.11 and the most important improvements, as well as a list with all El Capitan compatible Macs.
