Oracle released VirtualBox 5.1.30, a minor maintenance update to the open-source and cross-platform virtualization software that addresses a few important issues reported by users from previous versions.

Coming one month after the VirtualBox 5.1.28 release, which probably most of you out there use right now on your personal computers, VirtualBox 5.1.30 contains a fix for a Glibc 2.26 compilation bug for Linux hosts and a 3D-related crash for Windows guest that use the Windows Additions package.

For Mac OS X hosts, the update fixes a "double mouse cursor" issue that occurred when using the mouse integration feature without installing the Guest Additions. The issue was, in fact, a bug present in the Qt 5.6 framework, which is now patched in Qt 5.6.3 and later versions.

Jumbo frames now supported on Solaris hosts

VirtualBox 5.1.30 also introduces support for jumbo frames for Solaris hosts by allowing users to increase the MTU size to 9706 bytes, for the host-only adapter. Other than that, several translation updates have been added to the graphical user interface for all supported platforms.

The update is recommended for all users running VirtualBox 5.1.28 or a previous release from the VirtualBox 5.1 stable series of the popular virtualization software from Oracle. You can download VirtualBox 5.1.30 binaries for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows right now from our website.

Meanwhile, Oracle's engineers are working hard on the next major update, VirtualBox 5.2, which is currently still in beta stages of development. VirtualBox 5.2 should soon be pushed into RC (Release Candidate) state, and the final release could land by the end of the year with lots of new features, a revamped GUI, and much more.
