Today, April 28, 2016, Oracle has announced the release of VirtualBox 5.0.20, yet another maintenance version of its acclaimed open-source and cross-platform virtualization software.

According to the release notes, which we've also attached at the end of the article for reference, Oracle VirtualBox 5.0.20 is a pretty small release that comes only one and a half weeks after the previous maintenance build, VirtualBox 5.0.18, which introduced initial support for the upcoming Linux 4.6 kernel.

Changes in today's VirtualBox 5.0.20 release include more fixes for the Linux kernel 4.5 series, especially when the CONFIG_NET_CLS_ACT variable is enabled, support for listing processor features on VBoxManage's list hostinfo, TCP support in the DNS proxy feature, as well as better handling of port-forwarding rules.

Additionally, the host resolver has been rewritten to be asynchronous and handle more query types, and the BusLogic SCSI controller emulation feature has received some much-needed emulation fixes. Moreover, a storage regression introduced in the 5.0.18 point release, which could have caused BIOS write requests to produce a "Guru Meditation" when using the LsiLogic SCSI controller, has been fixed.

Windows 10 improvements, Guest Control fixes

The list of changes continues with improvements to Windows hosts, such as better support for the latest Windows 10 Insider builds, the re-implementation of support for Windows XP operating systems, as well as better support for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 and WDDM graphics drivers when using Aero.

Lastly, the Guest Control feature has received an extra set of bugfixes for the copyto and copyfrom commands, as well as the API, and a crash that occurred when attempting to restore a snapshot of a VM that had more network adapters than the current state has been patched.
