Oppo has already released a few high-end Android smartphones, but the Chinese company is not done with the launches. However, this time, we won’t be seeing another top-tier handset from Oppo, but a mid-range device that should go official very soon.

A new mid-range smartphone with model number Oppo A37m has been recently certified at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, TechGrapple reports.

Unfortunately, even though Google launched Android 6.0 Marshmallow quite a few months ago, many OEMs continue to release smartphones powered by an older version of the OS.

The A37m is no exception, as TENAA listing confirms the handset will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

The rest of the phone’s specs paint a disappointing picture for those expecting another high-end handset from Oppo. First of all, the device sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports only HD (720p) resolution.

The chipset is the only strong point of the mid-range handset

Hardware-wise, Oppo A37m is a bit better, as the smartphone should come equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

There’s also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, whereas on the front there’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Oppo A37m measures 143.1 x 71 x 7.68mm and weighs about 140g (battery included). We also know that the smartphone will be powered by a 2,550 mAh battery, which should be enough to offer around two days of continuous usage.

Design-wise, the A37m looks like a premium handset, but we doubt the smartphone will feature a full metal body. There’s no telling whether or not the A37m will offer dual-SIM support.

Although there’s no word on price and availability, we do know Oppo A37m will be launched in two color versions: Gold and Rose Gold.
