The smartphone has just been certified at TENAA

Chinese handset maker Oppo is about to release yet another affordable Android smartphone. The handset is currently known as A33, but it will make its debut on the market under a different name.

Oppo A33 hasn't been confirmed by the Chinese OEM yet, but it's been certified at TENAA, a new report confirms. The Chinese regulatory commission also lists some of the phone's specs, which point to an entry-level handset rather than a mid-range one.

According to the documents filed at TENAA, Oppo A33 measures 142.7 x 71.7 x 7.5mm and weighs around 145g (battery included).

We also know the A33 will sport a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports only qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, which is kind of disappointing.

Still, since this an entry-level handset, it shouldn’t be surprising that Oppo made some tough choices to make the smartphone as cheap as possible.

No mention of dual-SIM support, but 4G LTE is included

Anyway, Oppo A33 is supposed to ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, which is one of the phone's strong features and possibly its main selling point.

Other than that, the phone's specs sheet also contains things like 1.2GHz quad-core processor, possibly provided by MediaTek, 1GB of RAM and no less than 16GB of internal memory.

That's quite fortunate, even if the Oppo A33 also packs microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, the A33 features an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Last but not least, there's no word on pricing options and availability, but TENAA confirms Oppo A33 will come with 4G LTE support, which is another reasons to take this entry-level smartphone into consideration.
