Ahead of next week's unveiling of the iPhone 8 device, Opera Software, the makers of the popular Opera web browser, recently announced that they'd revamped Opera Mini for the new iPhone with a bunch of new features and enhancements.

The latest version of Opera Mini for iOS is already available for download from the App Store if you want to use it on your iPhone devices, and it has been redesign with many goodies inspired by your Internet browsing habits, according to the Opera Software. The first thing users will see is the completely redesigned UI.

"Over the past year, we observed that reading news and searching are the top two activities in a mobile browser. The Opera Mini start page makes it easy for you to do both of these things," explained Opera Software developers in the announcement. "In the new Opera Mini for iOS, you will see a completely redesigned user interface."

Therefore, the start page will now show the top trending news by default when you fire up Opera Mini on your new iPhone 8 device, so you can see what's going on in the world at a glance. The web browser is also capable of loading news stories four times faster than previous versions.

Talking about news, the built-in newsreader component is now powered by an Artificial Intelligence technology that will display a different news feed each time you open Opera Mini, based on your reading habits, of course. However, for now, it is limited to the United States, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Tanzania, and it's coming soon to Russia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The search bar got a lot smarter

The UI components that have been redesigned include both the search and the address bars, which now feature the standard Opera red color. On top of that, it looks like the search bar is a lot smarter as it's now capable of reminding you it is not your conventional location bar. The search bar also lets you customize the search engine of your choice and can scan QR codes.

Among other noteworthy improvements, we can mention that the new Opera Mini version for iOS lets you customize your news feed with international news sources, and Apple's iOS 11 operating system is fully supported. Opera Mini for iOS is available for free right now from the App Store on your iOS device, and Opera Software promises to bring back wallpapers and themes in an upcoming update.
