Development of the Opera 50 web browser continues, and a new developer build is out with a bunch of new and exciting features, as well as various small tweaks and the usual bug fixes.

Opera still lies in the Developer Channel, and version 50.0.2753.0 has been rebased on Chromium 63.0.3230.0 adding support for Google's Chromecast media streaming device on all supported platforms. Chromecast support can be enabled from Settings/Preferences -> Browser -> User interface -> "Enable Chromecast support."

"To start casting YouTube videos, just click the cast icon found in the video’s player controls," said Maciej Kocemba, Product Manager, Opera Software. "Alternatively, you can select “Cast…” from the page’s context menu or from the O-Menu (Windows, Linux) or View (macOS)."

It should also be noted that the Opera 50 web browser will also support casting for tabs and your entire desktop, besides videos. So if you have a Chromecast and you're using Opera as your default browser, you can update to the latest developer build and start casting.

Currency converter now recognizes cryptocurrencies

Another interesting feature that landed in the Opera 50.0.2753.0 developer build is support for various popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), 1.00 BTC, Ethereum (ETH), 1.00 ETH, Bitcoin Cash (BTH), 1.00 BCH, and Litecoin (LTC), 1.00 LTC, in the built-in currency converter tool.

Other than that, Opera 50.0.2753.0 fixes that annoying issue where your current browsing session was removed when the web browser crashed, addresses the "Whoops, something went wrong…" error message on Netflix for macOS High Sierra 10.13, and adds support for the hitfm.ua and rusradio.ua players for Windows users.

You can study the full changelog below if you're curious to know what else was improved in this new developer build of the Opera 50 web browser, which you can download for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows systems right now from our website. However, please note that some issues are still present in this pre-release build.
