Chromium-based Opera 49 web browser is one step closer to you as it recently entered the Beta channel now that Opera Software pushed the upcoming Opera 50 update to the Developer channel for early testing.

Rebased on the open-source Chromium 62.0.3202.29 web browser, the first Opera 49 Beta snapshot it now ready for download, giving Opera fans a more stable release to test the new snapshot tool with selfie capabilities that let you share personalize web screenshots on your favorite social networks in a matter of seconds.

"In Opera 49 Beta, you can simply snap any part of a web page and edit it," explains Maciej Kocemba, Product Manager, Opera Software. "After capturing your screenshot, a rich editing menu will be presented, including social-friendly features such as a selfie camera, stickers and drawing tools."

The screenshots can also be used in conversations via integrated messengers. There's now a video, which you can watch below, if you want to see the new snapshot tool with selfie in action. Opera also published detailed instructions on how to use it in case you plan on installing the Opera 49 Beta release on your personal computer.

Easy Setup, VK integration, O-menu and history improvements

As revealed during its development cycle, the Opera 49 web browser will also be coming with an Easy Setup panel that replaces the old "Customize Start Page" one to allow newcomers to get started faster with the Chromium-based browser, making it easier to customize the look and feel of Opera.

The build-in Private Browsing mode was revamped as well, and Opera 49 Beta includes numerous O-menu and history improvements. In addition, it's now possible to rearrange extensions on the toolbar, and the Russian-based VK Messenger is now integrated into the communications sidebar.

Support for the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH, ₴), Kazakhstani tenge (KZT, ₸), Georgian lari (GEL, ლ, ₾), Egyptian pound (EGP, E£), and Belarusian ruble (BYN) currencies was added to the built-in currency converter tool, and Opera 49 Beta brings lots of improvements for HiDPI screens on all supported platforms.

For Mac users, Opera 49 Beta is the first release of the web browser to officially support Apple's brand-new macOS High Sierra 10.13 operating system.
