Earlier today, December 15, Opera Software, through Zhenis Beisekov, has had the great pleasure of announcing the promotion of the Opera 35 web browser to the Beta channel for all supported operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.

We talked about the upcoming features of the Opera 35 web browser in various articles posted during the month of November 2015 right here on Softpedia. So those of you who read us daily should have an idea of what's to come in Opera 35, which should hit the stable channel early in 2016, but we will summarize here the most important aspects.

First, the Opera developers have managed to implement a functionality in the sync engine that will no longer duplicate bookmarks. Second, the highly requested search box has been added, but it needs to be enabled manually by the user because not every Opera user out there wants to see it on the toolbar. Then there's that awesome, new, unified and simplified settings page that contains all the common options a user needs.

"No fluff! I got your message about being too non-technical, so I’ll be more focused and review all the changes we stabilized in Opera 35 beta. In this version, we focused on removing duplicate bookmarks, introducing a separate search bar, cleaning up the settings page and a few other improvements," said Zhenis Beisekov, Product Manager of Desktop Products at Opera Software.

Changes for new Opera users, under-the-hood improvements

Moreover, the Opera devs have managed to implement a more basic browser vocabulary, various small yet useful improvements for those who attempt to install and use the Opera web browser for the first time. Then, there's the implementation of a confirmation dialog when users want to close the web browser while a download is in progress, along with multiple enhancements to the "Mute me baby" functionality for muting tabs.

Last but not least, Opera 35 Beta has lots of under-the-hood improvements. If you want to live on the bleeding edge, you can download the binaries of the Opera 35 web browser for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from our website. Just please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use. Also, not all features will work as expected.
