Opera Software, through Aneta Reluga, has announced yet another update of the Opera 34 developer channel for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.

Based on Chromium 47, Opera 34 Build 2023.0 brings all sorts of goodies for Linux, Windows, and Mac users. Let's start with the Linux features, as this developer build of the Opera 34 web browser introduces support for proprietary codecs. Some modifications have been made to the code for detecting if the chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra package is installed or not in your GNU/Linux distribution.

For all platforms, there's now a "Download in progress" warning dialog, which, as its name suggests, will warn you if you're trying to close the web browser while it's downloading something from the Internet. However, please note that this feature is disabled by default and needs to be enabled in opera:flags by activating the #show-downloads-in-progress-warning flag.

"During the last week, our developers, interaction designers and QA engineers spent a couple of days in France. We’ve attended the Engineering Seminar which focused on sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas," says Aneta Reluga, Desktop QA Team at Opera Software. "Now we are back and present you with the Opera developer update, in which we have a number of improvements, changes and bugfixes."

NPAPI is back, new Opera branding

Furthermore, Opera 34 Dev comes now with support for accessing NPAPI plugins, the availability of MSE+MP3 on the developer stream. Moreover, a new Opera developer rebranding took place as well, and numerous bugs reported by users since the previous version of the software have been fixed.

Download Opera 34 Build 2023.0 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia. However, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, which means that it's not suitable for deployment on production environments where stability is of the essence.
