With nearly 100 million downloads in Google Play Store, Opera is one of the most popular Android browsers. All the more reason for developers to keep updating the application with new features and improvements as often as possible.

Today, Opera Software has announced they have released a new version of their Android browser, which contains new features and enhancements.

The first mentioned by the developers is the possibility of adding websites to homescreen, which wasn't an option until version 32.

In order to add a new website to your homescreen, you must navigate to the site in question, and then tap on the plus sign on the left of the address & search bar. After that, simply select “Add to home screen,” tap “Add,” and a new icon will appear on your homescreen.

It's also worth mentioning that, in case a web app is served over HTTPS and it features a special manifest or specific meta tags, it will launch like a standard app, without any browser UI.

New pulsing animation for the progress bar has been added too

Among the most important improvements included in this update, developers mention high quality images for Discover. So, users who own hi-res Android smartphones will now be able to see much sharper images with each story.

Furthermore, Opera Software has added synced typed history, which means users will be able to access addresses on their mobile phones that they have typed on desktop, both in the history page and in the address auto-complete drop-down.

Also, apart from being able to tap on the refresh icon in the address bar, users will now be able to pull it down with the flick of a finger.

You can now download Opera for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 2.3 and up.
