openSUSE's Douglas DeMaio writes today, February 10, in a lengthy blog post about the fact that the openSUSE Tumbleweed rolling release operating system has received no less than four snapshots this week with dozens of updated packages.

It's been two weeks since the last snapshot builds landed on the OpenSuSE Tumbleweed repositories, but it would appear that the team of skillful developers packaged a lot of exciting updates this time around.

And today, openSUSE Tumbleweed users finally get the latest versions of the most popular and essential core components and applications, among which we can mention systemd 228, GCC 5.3.1, Sysdig 0.8.0, and Mozilla Firefox 44.0.

"The change log for the updated systemd states a number of properties previously only settable in unit files are now also available as properties to set when creating transient units programmatically via the bus," says Douglas DeMaio in today's announcement.

YaST tool receives a major update for openSUSE Tumbleweed

YaST, the installation and configuration tool for openSUSE and the SUSE Linux Enterprise distributions, has been updated as well, and it looks like the new version packs in some major changes.

Among these, we can mention a patch for a crash that occurred when the EULA download failed, more libstorage improvements, continuous integration for Snapper, as well as disk usage stats in software manager and installation.

Moreover, the YaST dependencies in systemd services have been cleaned up a little bit. Other than that, the openSUSE Tumbleweed team is now preparing to land the awesome new KDE Plasma 5.5.4 desktop environment to the operating system.

On this occasion, we are urging all users of the rolling openSUSE Tumbleweed distribution to update their installations as soon as possible if they want to receive all of the aforementioned updates. The new snapshots are now live in the official channels.
