Jos Poortvliet informs us that the rolling-release openSUSE Tumbleweed GNU/Linux operating system has received a new snapshot that adds some of the hottest KDE technologies available to date.

In an article entitled "Rolling Awesome of the Day," Mr. Poortvliet informs all users of the OpenSuSE Tumbleweed rolling-release operating system, especially those who are using the KDE desktop environment, that they're in for a treat, as the developers have managed to update all the KDE technologies in the distribution to the latest versions available at the moment of writing the article.

Among the awesome new KDE software implemented in openSUSE Tumbleweed, we can mention the KDE Plasma 5.4.2 desktop environment, KDE Applications 15.08.2 software suite, which includes numerous KDE apps ported to the KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5 technologies, as well as the KDE Frameworks 5.15 and Qt 5.5.1 toolkits.

"If you’re a Tumbleweed and KDE aficionado, this is a good day. You’ll see some major updates," stated Jos Poortvliet, openSUSE Community Manager. "Qt 5.5.0 brought some problems for Intel users and this new version, combined with the improvements in the updates from the KDE community, brings a much nicer and more reliable experience to users."

Minor versions, big stability improvements

If you're thinking that the new openSUSE Tumbleweed snapshot has introduced only some minor versions of the KDE Plasma, KDE Applications, KDE Frameworks, and Qt technologies, you're right, but you should also know that these maintenance releases significantly improve the overall stability of the operating system.

As far as changes are concerned, among the highlights of the new software versions, there are updated keyboard configuration, window manager fixes, updated and new icons, as well as Bluetooth improvements in KDE Plasma 5.4.2. Moreover, it's worth mentioning a faster and more stable Baloo search functionality, an improved KWallet software, and other under-the-hood fixes in KDE Frameworks 5.15.

Moreover, the Ark archive manager now offers a more reliable drag-and-drop functionality, the Kdenlive video editor has numerous stability enhancements, KDEPIM has received memory leaks, crashes, and scrolling issue fixes in KDE Applications 15.08.2, and Qt 5.5.1 fixes over 1,000 bugs.
