The openSUSE Project announces that the openSUSE 13.2 operating system has been released and is now available for download. The developers have an impressive number of changes ready for users and it should make a great release.

The latest OpenSuSE version has been in the works for quite some time, mostly because the development cycle was modified a while ago. This allowed the openSUSE devs to make all the changes and improvements they needed, without having to compromise anything. This also means that users will now look with even more interest at the version and they will be twice as stringent.

The project's had quite a few development versions, and some of the users have already got a taste of it. openSUSE comes with a large number of features and it should be one of the most interesting releases in years. It's a great opportunity to update and it's a very cool and powerful OS to try for the first time.

openSUSE 13.2 is a massive release

The new openSUSE desktop features all the latest versions of KDE, GNOME, MATE, LXDE, Xfce, and Awesome. It's one of the few operating systems that really try to integrate all the latest packages for so many flavors, but this is one of the reasons why it's so popular.

"This is the first release after the change in the openSUSE development mode, with a much shorter stabilization phase thanks to the extensive testing done in a daily basis in the rolling distribution used now as a base for openSUSE stable releases. The perfect balance between innovation and stability with the great level of freedom of choice that openSUSE users are used to," say the devs in the announcement.

The number of features that have been added in this latest release is quite impressive. It really shows that the developers had more time than usual to implement everything they needed to, including a much more accessible settings menu, more options for users to customize their installation, and the powerful Btrfs filesystem as default.

openSUSE 13.2 comes with a much better installer, an improved YaST toolset, numerous packages for developers, and pretty much all the packages that you will ever need. With an installation image of 4.7 GB, this is one of the biggest Linux distros and one of the best that you can find.

You can download openSUSE 13.2, openSUSE 13.2 GNOME Edition, and openSUSE 13.2 KDE Edition right now from Softpedia.
