The openSUSE Project has announced on September 19, 2013, that the first Beta version of the upcoming openSUSE 13.1 Linux operating system is available for download and testing, and we thought that it would be a good idea to make a screenshot tour.

Being powered by Linux kernel 3.11.1, the GNOME edition of the openSUSE 13.1 Beta 1 operating system is built on top of the GNOME 3.10 Beta 2 desktop environment, which has some interesting new features.

This release also includes popular open source software like systemd 207, Mesa 9.2.0, LLVM/Clang 3.3, Wine 1.7, Samba 4.1, and experimental support for the Btrfs filesystem, which comes only with the ‘safe’ features enabled.

openSUSE 13.1 Beta 1 is distributed as Live CD ISO images with the GNOME and KDE desktop environments, a netboot ISO image and an installable DVD ISO image, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.
