The openSUSE Project has announced that openSUSE 12.3 XFCE has been officially launched, alongside it's older brothers, KDE and GNOME.

According to the developers, OpenSuSE 12.3 now comes with an XFCE-based Live CD designed to provide a lightweight and effective environment and powerful applications for recovering lost data, backing up existing data, editing disk partitions and accessing the help channels of openSUSE.

Highlights of openSUSE 12.3 XFCE:

Gparted and YaST’s disk partition manager have been added for creating and modifying partitions; • A subset of YaST modules has been added to help with system recovery; • GNU dd_rescue and photorec have been added to aid in the recovering of lost or corrupted data; • grsync, an rsync GUI, useful for backups has been added; • A tabbed Thunar file manager has been added, with improved bookmark handling and extensive performance improvements.
