openSUSE 12.3 GNOME Edition has been launched today by the openSUSE Project, alongside all the other flavors, KDE, XFCE, and E17.

openSUSE 12.3 GNOME is a great addition to the OpenSuSE collection and it's based on the latest stable version of GNOME, 3.6.

Highlights of openSUSE 12.3 GNOME:

• Smarter notifications have been added, including a redesigned Message Tray; • The activities overview and the Nautilus file manager received an improved layout; • A new Lock Screen, which provides an attractive view when the device is locked, has been added; • Several handy functionalities such as media controls have been added.

Just like it's KDE counterpart, openSUSE 12.3 GMOME has Linux kernel 3.7, the entire LibreOffice 3.6 stack, GIMP, the openJDK java environment, and a delectable set of system recovery and backup tools.
