The second release candidate of the upcoming OpenSuSE 11.3 operating system was announced on July 1st by Bryen Yunashko. This is also the last development release, and every openSUSE user should get it and test it, in order to report existing bugs (if any). Just like the first RC, openSUSE 11.3 RC2 comes with a very light release announcement, but packs lots of bug fixes and some finishing touches. As usual, a few annoying bugs are still present:

· In the KDE edition, the Device Notifier tool should be in the notification area (systray) by default; · In the GNOME edition, when users exit the Quadrapassel game the X server dies; · The Online Updates module does not work in YaST Software Management.

"Following up on Michael Loeffler’s previous RC1 announcement, openSUSE is now doing a final check of instrumentation before landing. The weather continues to be clear and all conditions continue to be smooth, and all systems are a go for final landing on July 15, 2010. Now’s the time for us all to download the latest openSUSE RC2 release and all join in on a final check and get that 11.3 polished and in good condition." - said Bryen Yunashko in the official release announcement.

This being said, we are now waiting for the final release of openSUSE 11.3, which should be available in two weeks from now, on July 15th.

The openSUSE 11.3 Release Schedule:

February 1st - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 1; February 18th - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 2; March 4th - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 3; March 25th - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 4; April 14th - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 5; May 3rd - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 6; May 26th - openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 7; June 17th - openSUSE 11.3 RC1; July 1st - openSUSE 11.3 RC2; July 15th - openSUSE 11.3 Final release.
