After the release of Mandriva Linux 2010.1, the time has come for the popular openSUSE operating system to take the spotlight. In other words, we are proud to announce that openSUSE 11.3 was made available for download earlier today, and it is our pleasure to offer you a quick look at the new features included in the brand-new and shiny openSUSE 11.3 Linux-based operating system. After more than five months of hard work, openSUSE 11.3 can now be downloaded for free either as Live CDs with the KDE4 and GNOME desktop environment, or as an installable only DVD. Both Live CDs and DVD images have support for 32-bit and 64-bit architectures (see download links at the end of the article).

The major release of the openSUSE distribution is powered by Linux kernel 2.6.34, brings modern desktop environments, such as KDE Software Compilation 4.4.4 and GNOME 2.30.1, includes applications like Mozilla Firefox 3.6.6 and Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0.5, OpenOffice.org 3.2.1.4, Flash player 10.1.53.64, and over 50 other new features. Support for Netbooks, iPod Touch and iPhone is also provided in the new openSUSE 11.3.

With openSUSE 11.3 the developers are proud to introduce SpiderOak, a personal cloud for openSUSE users. This service allows users to make consolidated and secure backups, store & share files, multi-platform file synchronization. And the best part is that it's free and encrypted! SpiderOak can be compared with the Ubuntu One service from the Ubuntu operating system.
