Someone is trying to raise money for a Star Wars RPG

There is a new Kickstarter project out there named “Open World RPG ‘like’ Star Wars Game” that’s gathering a lot of attention, although it shouldn’t.

As you can imagine, anything that has Star Wars in the name is closely controlled by Disney, so making your own Star Wars game and trying to get money for it on Kickstarter is a big no-no. Sill, people will try and hope that they are too small for Disney to notice. That could be true if you’re doing a small mod that nobody will play, but if you want $200,000 for development, then you’re in for a surprise.

The new game is proposed by a young developer from Texas named Devin Tripp, who hasn’t done anything like this before. In fact, he only has an idea and nothing more. There is no artwork, no concepts, nothing. He only knows that a Star Wars RPG would be cool, and that’s about it.

Many people have donated already

Despite the lack of any kind of assets for this potential game, quite a few people have already donated to the project. It’s curious why that happens, but that’s probably a subject for psychiatrists.

“Like many of us when we were kids, we wanted to be like Luke Skywalker or obi jim Kenobi, but like all of us, we do not live in a galaxy far far away. There might be another way, though. With all the open world RPGs out there how is there not a good one for Star Wars?” says David on Kickstarter. (Yes, it's obi jim)

He knows that he wants to be bigger than Fallout 4 or Witcher 3, which are probably the last two games he played, and that’s pretty much it. The money he’s raising on Kickstarter will go to a team of developers, but he doesn't seem to know that games like Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 cost dozens of millions of dollars to make, and a couple of hundred thousand is almost nothing.

In any case, you can check his Kickstarter campaign if you want to know more.
