Samsung is expected to announce its latest flagship in the coming months and rumors about the upcoming device continue to pour in. It’s already known that the phone will be made available in two variants, the standard Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.

The latest reports have revealed that Samsung finalized the specs and design of the next two Galaxy S8 phones. It appears that the two variants will in fact lack the physical home button, making the Galaxy S8 the first phone in the Galaxy S series to ditch this element. Previously, the fingerprint scanner was embedded in the home button, but now it will be located at the back of the phone.

The standard Galaxy S8 version will lack a dual-camera setup at the back, which will be featured on the S8 Plus model. The report also mentions the display sizes for the two phones, 5.7 inches for the standard model and 6.2 inches for the Plus variant. The phone is also expected to come with the highest certification against water and dust, IP68.

Samsung already developed a prototype of the Galaxy S8

Apparently, Samsung has already completed a prototype of the Galaxy S8 and sent it to the company’s CEO and Vice Chairman. The phone could be announced during MWC next month and it is said that Samsung intends to sell 60 million units of the Galaxy S8 this year.

A small batch of Galaxy S8 units could be marketed after MWC, while a full-scale release is scheduled for mid-April. The Galaxy S8 is rumored to come with Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and at least 64GB of internal storage. It might also feature Samsung’s AI assistant, Bixby.

Many concept renders showing the Galaxy S8 have surfaced recently and the latest is based on leaked cases from the past few days. The render found by SamMobile shows the repositioned heart rate sensor and the thinner bezel at the bottom with the Samsung logo on top. It also shows the single camera setup on the back, which means that it’s for the standard Galaxy S8 variant.
