Last year’s Xiaomi Mi MIX impressed the market with its display that almost covered the entire front panel and small bezels that inspired other smartphone makers to stretch the screen limits of their devices.

Online retailer GearBest recently listed the unannounced Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, showing an alleged render of the smartphone together with detailed specs. Take the information with a grain of salt, as the render does present some inconsistencies in the sense that it doesn’t reveal a front camera, although the specsheet mentions a 13MP front-facing selfie sensor.

Moreover, the bezels are virtually missing from the front panel, while it seems highly unlikely that the display would cover the whole front of the smartphone and no bezel would be in sight. What we do know is that the Mi MIX 2 will come with tiny bezels and a screen-to-body ratio of up to 93%.

8GB of RAM and Snapdragon 835 platform

The list of specs also reveals that the new Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 smartphone will come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 platform, which doesn’t seem unlikely at all. Since last year’s Xiaomi Mi MIX ran Snapdragon 821 SoC, it’s only suitable that this year’s iteration would come with the most powerful chipset on the market.

Information about the RAM + internal storage combo also seems likely, with variants featuring 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory and 8GB of RAM and 256GB of local storage. The latter remains to be seen, as 8GB seems a bit over the top.

A 19MP main camera could be featured on the upcoming smartphone, together with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 2540x1440 pixel resolution, while the phone could draw power from a 4,500mAh battery, bigger than the 4,400mAh battery on last year’s model. The phone is also said to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, provided that Xiaomi manages to perfect the technology that Samsung and Apple are still working on.

Xiaomi announced the Mi MIX back in October last year, which means that the successor should arrive in the same month of 2017.
